I was contacted through this very site to see if I could make something I was shown in a photo. The problem was that the maker of the one in the photo was not local, and the size needed to be adjusted to fit a much smaller area. Here are the photos of my newest project, an aged looking hall tree.
The whole request was to make this look as distressed and aged as possible. The photos don’t show the gray color very well, but it is a “Classic Gray” stain. The sides, back and seat are different thicknesses of baltic birch plywood and the the supports are regular pine 2×4 studs and the brackets and shelf are made from pine. The only pieces with a super finish are the seat and shelf. Defects were minimized to not cause slivers or snag clothing. Otherwise the wood still appears kind of rough. It is finished with a satin lacquer to seal the wood. The hooks are “Oiled Bronze”. You can see the step-by-step progression on my Facebook page, click here to see the photo album.
